On trust-based philanthropy

  • Provide unrestricted funds and maximum flexibility to support and uplift communities.

  • Trust that those advocating for and/or are closest to the communities to know best on how to address the communal needs

On funding the racial justice movement

  • The racial justice movement requires funding. Operating on limited funding is not sustainable to achieve long-term goals.

  • Grant foundations will need to understand and truly re-evaluate what they need to commit in order to best invest in the racial justice movement.

On white allyship

  • In order to best support the Black community, it is crucial to remain centered on Black people.

  • “…white allies can center themselves in these in these discussions that is not helpful.”

  • One can center themselves as an ally and being willing to continue to do the work of addressing discrimination within their own spaces.
